Ever since we lost contact with Mr. Max Garvs, we have received several letters from the Hong Kong Government to Mr. Max Garvs regarding his student loan in Hong Kong.

Non-means-tested Loan Scheme ("NLS")

Repayment of Outstanding Loan

You have been granted a student loan(s) under the Non-means-tested Loan Scheme ("NLS") for your studies.  Despite our previous demand note(s)/reminder(s), you have failed to repay the outstanding instalments by their due dates.  According to our records dated 24 October 2014, the total amount in arrears as at 13 November 2014 is HK$25,168.60* (including outstanding administrative fee and overdue interest accruing from the due dates of the outstanding instalments up to 13 November 2014).

You are requested to settle the aforesaid amount of arrears on or before 13 November 2014 by the Payment-by Phone Service (PPS reference no.: "142448428462", Mer4chant Code: "44") or the Automated Teller Machines.

We wish to remind you that according to the Undertaking(s) given by you to the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, you have the obligation to repay the instalments on or before their due dates.  After you have settled the arrears, please make sure that you do not default in repayment again.

This letter is copied to your indemnifier(s).  If you fail to repay the outstanding amount on or before 13 November 2014, the Agency will request your indemnifier(s) to repay the full amount of outstanding loan(s) together with interest and surcharge/administrative fee (if any) in accordance with the Deeds of Indemnity undertaken by him or her.

+ Including(i) HK$24,864.40 which is the overdue instalments up to the quarter of Ocober 2014; and (ii) HK$ 304.20 which is the outstanding administrative fee and the overdue interest accruing from the due dates of the outstanding instalments up to 13 Nobember 2014.  If you have already submitted a written application for deferment of loan repayment before the date of this letter, please disregard this reminder.

*Administrative fee is chargable annually on 1 Decmber until the NLS loan and the interest thereon are fully repaid.  Overdue interest is calculated by applying the prevailing overdue interest rate to accrue over the priod from the due date (s) of the overdue instalment(s) to the date(s) of actual repayment made.

* If you have repaid part of the arrears after 24 October 2014 or have repaid the requested amount before the due date, any overpaid amount will be adjusted in the next demand note.
